Exhibition of the Segezha Museum Center
About exhibition
The Segezha Museum Center was opened on March 29, 1980 as the Segezha Local History Museum on a voluntary basis and was initially located in the building of Segezha Secondary School No. 2. In 1983 the museum moved into premises in one of the oldest buildings in the historic town centre at 16b Mira Street. The museum's collections are diverse: more than 10,000 catalogued items. The permanent exhibition features archaeological and ethnographic exhibits, numismatics, paintings and historical documents. Visitors can see exhibition sections: "Culture of the Vyg Lake region", "Two Roads, Two Ways" — the history of the construction of the Murmansk Railway and the White Sea–Baltic Canal, "Segezha: a Socialist Town", "The History of Paper from China to Segezha" and the "Art Gallery".
