Exhibition of the Museum and Cultural Center 'House of the Merchant G. V. Tetyushinov'
About exhibition
The house of Astrakhan first-guild merchant Grigory Vasilyevich Tetyushinov was built in the 19th century in the Neo-Russian style. Since 1995 it has been a federal architectural monument, and since September 2010 a museum and cultural center. In the 19th century the ground floor contained utility rooms. Currently it hosts artists' vernissages and exhibitions by Astrakhan collectors or craftsmen of decorative and applied arts. The second-floor rooms were intended for the merchant's family. In the study the owner, who was engaged in shipbuilding and headed the steamship company 'Tetyushinov & Co.', handled business matters and received partners. The maiden room of the Tetyushinovs' foster daughter Elizaveta displays items for needlework. In the library the householder or his wife Glafira Ivanovna spent time reading. In the parlor they celebrated holidays, discussed new literary works, and held musical evenings. All the museum's exhibits date from the late 19th to the early 20th century.
