Exhibition 'Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines'

About exhibition

The Museum of Soviet Arcade Machines was founded in 2007 by three friends who were inspired to find games from their childhood and play them again. Having begun as a private, one-of-a-kind collection of Soviet arcade machines, it now comprises more than 300 operational arcade machines. The museum team locates, restores, and maintains the machines in working condition. Almost all exhibits are interactive; visitors can play them using Soviet 15-kopeck coins included with the admission ticket. The museum regularly offers guided tours where visitors learn about the history of the gaming industry in the USSR and discover how the machines are built inside. The museum team researches gaming culture and shares its findings through educational and exhibition projects. Since 2018 the museum has been an active member of the European Federation of Game Museums and the Preservation of Digital Heritage. In 2020 the project 'Anatomy of Soviet Arcade Machines' won a competition held by the V. Potanin Charitable Foundation.
