Exhibition of the Museum of Military Glory
About exhibition
Six halls arranged in chronological order tell of the participation of the Chuvash people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 and of life on the home front. The exhibition features original documents, sets of personal belongings, letters, and awards of those who took part in combat. Reconstructed interiors include a conscription office, a dugout, a factory workshop, a village council, a field hospital, and a soldiers' rest area from those years. The diorama "Crossing the Dnieper" vividly testifies to the heroism of Soviet soldiers. One of the notable exhibits is the saber of adjutant von Paulus — a military trophy captured by scouts. Drawings by Zeithain concentration camp prisoner Alexander Pakhomov also attract attention. The museum's displays tell not only about combat operations but also about the selfless labor of the republic's residents on the home front. The centerpiece of the hall dedicated to Victory is the diorama "Storming of the Reichstag". The exhibits in this hall recount both the events of the final days of the Great Patriotic War and the stories of those who left their signatures on the walls of the fallen Reichstag.
