Exhibition of the V. I. Chapaev Museum
About exhibition
The public's attitude toward the events of the Civil War changes over time, but Vasily Chapaev remains one of the most vivid heroes of that era, whose appeal does not fade. Visitors are greeted by a landscape model of the city of Cheboksary with the village of Budayka from the late 19th–early 20th century, where the future commander was born. Visitors learn about the places where Vasily Chapaev spent his childhood and about his family's history. Museum guests can trace Chapaev's military career from a soldier and feldfebel of the Russian Imperial Army, a recipient of the Order of St. George, to an organizer and commander in the Red Army. The exhibition tells about the Red Army units created by Chapaev and about his 'White' opponents. Visitors are met by anatomical mannequins in full uniform, recreating as accurately as possible the real figures: a soldier of the Russian Imperial Army and an Austro-Hungarian private, a Cossack and a Red Army soldier. Footage from the famous 1934 film 'Chapaev' is shown on screen. Tickets can be purchased via the link.
