Exhibition of the V. I. Surikov Museum-Estate
About exhibition
On the ground floor of the Surikov family house a memorial exhibition has been recreated, presenting personal belongings, photographs of the artist and his family members, household items, and books. It is here that visitors can get an idea of the environment in which Vasily Surikov grew up. Special attention in the exhibition is paid to creating a homely atmosphere and the sense of the owners' presence. On the second floor about a hundred original paintings and graphic works by the artist are on display. The exhibition includes interior items from the late 19th to the early 20th century, which helps to accurately reproduce the era in which the artworks were created. Each room on the second floor is linked to a particular period of Vasily Surikov's life: one room contains his youthful watercolors, another is devoted to his Moscow years, and a third focuses on the theme "Surikov and Siberia."
