Exhibition of the G. R. Derzhavin Museum‑Estate
About exhibition
The poet’s house houses the G. R. Derzhavin Museum of Russian literature of his time, a literary‑memorial exhibition occupying 16 period rooms. Recreated with the greatest possible accuracy are the large double‑height meeting hall of the literary society "Beseda Lyubiteley Russkogo Slova" (Society of Lovers of the Russian Word), the Straw Drawing Room, the home theatre, the "Divanchik" sitting room, the poet’s study, the kitchens, and the icehouse. The museum’s displays include books and manuscripts, works of fine and decorative‑applied arts. Painted portraits of the house’s owners and guests create the effect of the presence of figures from a long‑gone era in the museum’s rooms.
