Exhibition of the Alfred Mirek Museum of the Russian garmon
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the history of free-reed instruments of the 19th–20th centuries in Russia and abroad. Here you can see a collection of musical instruments, posters, photographs, documents, sound recordings, educational and archival materials. All of this was collected, studied and scientifically systematized over 55 years by Doctor of Art History, professor and Honored Art Worker of Russia Alfred Mirek. In 1996, following the traditions of domestic philanthropy, he decided to donate his collection to the city. Visitors to the museum can not only see rare instruments, but also trace the development of the Russian garmon — from simple mid-19th-century models to the most complex concert accordions and bayans of the 20th century.
