Exhibition of the Museum of Russian Emigration
About exhibition
Exhibition of the Museum of Russian Emigration — part of the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of the Russian Abroad — introduces the phenomenon of the 20th century. Having left the country in the so‑called first wave (after the events of 1917) or in the second wave, finding themselves in the tragic circumstances of “displaced persons” during the Second World War, or in the 1970s–1980s — as exiled or escaped opponents of the regime and dissident cultural figures — compatriots essentially created a second Russia abroad, a Russia without geographic borders that preserved and enriched the heritage of their historical homeland. The unique museum, formed over 25 years, is based on gifts from the emigrants themselves or their descendants. Visitors will see items miraculously preserved by compatriots — documents, photographs, letters that have come down to us from that “turbulent time”.
