Exhibition of the Tula Defense Museum
About exhibition
The exhibition features more than 60 software-and-hardware systems that allow every visitor to find something interesting and meaningful. Electronic encyclopedias reveal to military history enthusiasts not only the events of the city’s defense but also the region’s history during the war. Various interactive programs offer children a fun, game-like way to learn what was in a medic’s kit and in parcels sent to the front, what a Molotov cocktail is, and how the people of Tula kept warm during the harsh winter of 1941. Visitors to the museum can see more than 1,000 authentic wartime items. Among them are exhibits from the collections of the Tula Museum Association, rare artifacts acquired specifically for the new exhibition, as well as items donated by Tula residents as part of the “People’s Museum” campaign. It is also worth noting the contribution of defense enterprises, organizations and institutions to the creation of the museum. For example, Tulamashzavod donated three machines produced in 1934–1937; the Imperial Tula Arms Factory provided samples of small arms and mock-ups of Maxim machine guns; and search teams handed over more than 150 valuable finds. These include a banner from the time of the Battle of Moscow, donated by the search team 'Slavny', and unique documents from 1941 presented by the Tula State Pedagogical University named after L. N. Tolstoy. For inquiries: +7 (953) 955-01-93, +7 (4872) 26-82-20, +7 (4872) 26-82-77.
