Exhibition of the N. S. Golovanov Apartment Museum
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to Nikolai Semyonovich Golovanov, chief conductor of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia (1948–1953), composer, choirmaster, and pianist-accompanist. The recreated interiors of the study, living room, and dining room fully convey the atmosphere in which the conductor lived and worked, as they contain original furnishings from his apartment. From Nikolai Semyonovich Golovanov's collection, the exhibition presents icons and small-scale sculptural objects, as well as sculpture and paintings. The centerpiece of the collection is, undoubtedly, a selection of Russian paintings, including works by Ivan Aivazovsky and Vasily Vereshchagin, Apollinary Vasnetsov and Konstantin Yuon, Vasily Polenov and Isaac Levitan, Mikhail Nesterov and Konstantin Korovin, Alexander Benois and Alexander Golovin.
