The museum's exhibition is devoted to the key pages of Moscow's musical and cultural life beginning in the 1880s. On the walls are photographs of musicians from several generations: teachers, contemporaries and students of Alexander Goldenweiser, as well as his friends, close associates and relatives. Great attention is paid to his pedagogical activity, to which he devoted more than 55 years. Of great value are Goldenweiser's sheet-music library and book collection, his collection of paintings and works on paper, unique musical and literary autographs, photographs, and a collection of concert programs. The museum contains many memorial items that not only reflect the sequence of events, dates and names of the 19th–20th centuries, but also help to convey the unique atmosphere of that time and to feel the 'presence' of many outstanding cultural figures of the past. Among the exhibits are memorial Bechstein pianos that remember the touch of Alexander Scriabin, Sergei Rachmaninoff and Nikolai Medtner; a posthumous mask of Alexander Pushkin; and a chess set crafted by the eminent Russian actor Mikhail Chekhov. A special place in the museum is occupied by a collection of items related to Leo Tolstoy. Goldenweiser preserved a number of documents, a large photo archive and memorial belongings of the writer. The exhibition is open to visitors during the museum's working days and hours. Visits to the exhibition may be restricted during events. Please note that ticket sales at the museum box office end half an hour before closing.
