Lace Museum Exhibition
About exhibition
The main exhibition is dedicated to the development of Vologda’s traditional decorative craft and to global trends in lace-making from the late 19th to the early 21st century. The exhibition is arranged in chronological order. The first hall is devoted to European lace and to the period of the birth and establishment of lace-making as an art. The following halls display exhibits exploring the themes "Lace in peasant costume and ethnographic textiles", "Vologda lace at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries", and "Propaganda lace of the 1920s–1940s". The main gallery showcases works by well-known Vologda lace artists. The Lace Museum is located in the city center on Kremlin Square. Its exhibition is housed in a 19th-century urban manor. In addition to presenting the finest examples of lace, the museum also provides facilities for educational activities held in a classroom and offers visitor services in an art salon-shop and a café.
