About exhibition
The permanent exhibition introduces visitors to the museum's main collections and consists of five sections. Northern icon painting is represented by monuments by local Karelian masters that are unique in their artistic expressiveness. The folk art collection includes ensembles of costume, embroidery, wood carving and painting, as well as birch-bark, copper and ceramic household items made by craftsmen of the past. Russian art is reflected in works by celebrated Russian artists: M. Tsybasov, R. Falk, P. Konchalovsky, A. Osmerkin, N. Romadin, E. Moiseenko, and others. The Karelian art section includes works by both classic and contemporary regional artists such as S. Yuntunen, L. Lankinen, F. Nieminen, B. Pomortsev, V. Chekmasov, T. Yufa, and A. Trifonov.
