Exhibition of the Museum of the History of Theaters of Dagestan
About exhibition
The museum occupies a spacious basement area composed of exhibitions representing 12 national theaters of Dagestan. Visitors are introduced to the founders of Dagestani theatrical art — the first directors, playwrights, actors, and notable artists. Visitors can see rich collections of posters, set-design sketches, and costumes for performances. Guests are particularly interested in scale models for the productions 'Shamil' by Kaziev and 'The Shore' by Bondarev, and the hussar costume from the play 'Once Upon a Time' by Gladkov. The exhibition also displays rare stage costumes from the 1930s, miraculously preserved since they are as old as the theater itself — over 90 years old. These are costumes from the productions 'The Raven' by Carlo Gozzi and 'Romeo and Juliet' by William Shakespeare. A unique exhibit is the stage prop for Saidov's 'The Tinsmiths' — an anvil with bellows and chains. A favorite exhibit of young visitors is a white grand piano, solemn and noble; it was donated to the theater museum by the composer's family. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the work of the People's Poet of Dagestan, Rasul Gamzatov.
