Exhibition of the Museum of the History of the City of Yelabuga
About exhibition
The Museum of the City's History is housed in merchant Nikolaev's mansion on historic Kazanskaya Street; it combines classical museum traditions with the features of a modern museum complex. Visitors embark on an engaging journey through halls dedicated to archaeology, ethnography, geology, nature, and the region's historical development. The Nature and Archaeology hall's exhibition covers a colossal time span, from the formation of the region's landscape more than ten thousand years ago up to the mid-16th century - the moment the Khanate of Kazan was annexed to the Grand Duchy of Moscow. The large 'Wheel of History' hall presents historical stages, with a portrait gallery of historical figures in the center. The 'Uyezd Town' hall houses an electronic model of protected Yelabuga with its listed monument buildings. This thematically diverse and unusual museum complex offers visitors the opportunity to visit a living corner and to view exhibitions in the garage and the hall of Soviet everyday life.
