Decembrists Museum Exhibition

About exhibition

The first and only Decembrists Museum in Krasnoyarsk Krai is located in one of Minusinsk's oldest houses. Brothers Alexander and Nikolay Kryukov lived here. In total, eight Decembrists were exiled to the town — they were the first farmers and the first teachers in the Minusinsk area. The museum's exhibition introduces visitors to the history of the uprising on Senate Square in December 1825, the Decembrists' penal servitude in the Transbaikal region, and their stay in the Minusinsk district. The gentry way of life in Siberian exile is reflected in the interiors of the drawing room, dining room, and boudoir. During the warmer months you can stroll and have an unusual photo session in the 'Petersburg Gardens.' The museum offers tours and events as part of the 'Gentry Culture' series, theatrical programs, and musical and poetry evenings. The museum's exhibition also serves as the set for theatrical productions by the local amateur ensemble 'Home Theatre of the Martyanov Museum.'
