Exhibition of the Black Sea Fleet Museum

The museum was founded on 14 (26) September 1869 at the initiative of participants of the Crimean War (1853–1856) and by decree of Emperor Alexander II. Its building is an architectural monument (authors — A. M. Kochetov, A. A. Maksimov, B. V. Edwards). In the courtyard there is an open-air exhibition of guns, items from ships and other relics of the 18th–20th centuries. The main exhibition presents exhibits reflecting the history of the Russian Black Sea Fleet. These include paintings by outstanding artists: F. A. Rubo, I. K. Aivazovsky, R. K. Zhukovsky, L. D. Blinov, Yu. V. Volkov, etc.; life drawings by V. F. Timm; English and French lithographs of the 19th century; personal effects and awards of participants in the two defenses of Sevastopol; and items of weaponry and uniforms from the periods of the Crimean War and the Great Patriotic War.
