Exhibition of the Valentina Makarova Museum of Military Glory
About exhibition
Visitors learn about the Great Patriotic War and the participation of Dagestanis in it. The main exhibition is devoted to Dagestan’s contribution to the victory over fascism. The feats of Dagestanis are presented through authentic documents, awards, weapons and personal belongings of front-line soldiers, including finds recovered by search teams. A panorama of the war is laid out for visitors: its beginning, the defense of the Brest Fortress, the Battle of Moscow, etc.; images of Hero Cities and photographs of Dagestanis — Heroes of the Soviet Union — are displayed. Tunics, awards, weapons, banners and items of military equipment form a rich collection of original material. Guests will see the flight suit of fighter pilot Amet-khan Sultan, the general’s uniform of Salikh Khalilov, the tunic of Hero of the Soviet Union Alexander Sitkovsky, the cherkeska of Kamalutdin Nurmagomedov, and the banners of the 91st Melitopol Red Banner Rifle Division and the separate Dagestan Volunteer Cavalry Squadron. In a separate display case you can see the greatcoat and personal belongings of Captain 2nd Rank Magomed Gadzhiev, Hero of the Soviet Union, who commanded a submarine division of the Northern Fleet. The second part of the exhibition is dedicated to the history and memory of Dagestanis who showed heroism and courage in modern armed conflicts.
