Visitors to the exhibition will take a journey into history, peek onto the shelves of Cherepovets pharmacies from a century ago, and learn about the unusual goods sold in pharmacy shops that, in addition to medicines, offered slimming powders, soap, spices and even bicycles. The exhibition brings together everything related to the professions of pharmacist and apothecary: antique reference books, professional equipment, mechanisms and devices, old prescription signatures, and photographs of pre‑revolutionary and Soviet‑era pharmacy interiors. Besides the main exhibition, the museum space recreates a “herbalist’s shop,” which provides an impression of the medieval prototype of modern pharmacies. Behind a curtain there are cabinets with wet preparations, stuffed animals, and dried medicinal herbs. Nearly 100 exhibits—items from zoological and botanical collections—create the atmosphere of an old herbalist’s shop. The museum’s exhibition also includes a collection of minerals that could have been used as raw materials for preparing medicines.
