Exhibition 'The World of Traditional Culture of the Indigenous Peoples of Primorye'
About exhibition
The exhibition tells about the customs and daily life of the Nanai, Udege, Oroch, Ulchi, Eskimo, Aleut, and Itelmen peoples. Visitors can see the lives of these thrifty, resourceful, and kind people, and learn the principles they used and still use in managing their households, taiga hunting, marine mammal hunting, fishing, and gathering. The exhibition hall gives guests the opportunity to briefly become part of their world. In its center a great Tree of Life stretches through sky and earth — a symbol of life connecting the earthly world and the world of spirits. Above hangs a sky populated by wondrous star-animals. On one side is the men's area, showing what traditional hunters and fishers did — here are implements for hunting and fishing and traditional clothing. On the other side is a women's display with examples of crafts, striking ornaments, jewelry, and clothing. Right in front of the visitor one can see elements of shamanic life: amulets, daggers, drums, staffs, and even figurines of the sevena — the shaman's helper spirit. More details on the website.
