Exhibition of the N. I. Beloborodov Memorial Museum
About exhibition
The exhibition is dedicated to the life and work of the self-taught Tula musician N. Beloborodov. He was the inventor of the first chromatic harmonica in Russia and the organizer of the world’s first orchestra of harmonica players, as well as a conductor and teacher. Visitors will learn about the life and work of Nikolai Beloborodov and about the masters of harmonica production of the 19th–20th centuries. The centerpiece of the exhibition is a unique exhibit — a chromatic harmonica created by N. Beloborodov in the 1870s. As a family heirloom it was kept for many years by the inventor’s daughter, M. N. Kuvaldina. Visitors can view photographs, documents, household items from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, and musical instruments from the Tula production association “Melodiya” from the 1960s–1990s.
