Exhibition of the Memorial House-Museum
About exhibition
The memorial museum 'House-apartment of G. M. Krzhizhanovsky and V. V. Starkov' is a typical townspeople's homestead of Minusinsk from the late 19th–early 20th centuries. The museum is known as the house of the Bragin brothers, who in the 1880s were exiled from the Caucasus to the Minusinsk district and remained there after their term of exile ended. During the years of Siberian exile G. M. Krzhizhanovsky and V. V. Starkov lived here with their families. V. I. Ulyanov visited Minusinsk more than ten times, staying at the Bragin house. Visitors can stroll around the homestead and inspect the storage room and the lean-to, where, neatly as in former times, tools are hung and arranged, sawhorses are loaded with logs, and an axe is left in a chopping block. Museum-goers, taking in their hands a wooden clothes beater (rubel), a cast-iron pot, or a clay jug, will literally feel history. They will learn how Minusinsk residents lived at the turn of the century and how they spent everyday life and holidays.
