A. I. Kurnakov's Studio Exhibition
About exhibition
The exhibition includes more than 300 paintings and graphic works by Andrey Ilyich Kurnakov, as well as works by his colleagues, friends, and students donated to the artist at different times. The halls contain over 1,000 authentic memorial exhibits: an easel, art supplies, bookshelves, family photographs, and household items. All of this allows visitors to immerse themselves in the creative atmosphere that prevailed during the artist's lifetime. In a small 19th-century merchant's mansion in the historic city center, the artist set up a studio, living rooms, and exhibition halls. Andrey Ilyich Kurnakov was a well-known painter and graphic artist, People's Artist of the USSR, and a participant in the Great Patriotic War. The master's creative path began in the postwar period, so many of his works deal with historical events and the destinies of people. His artistic range is wide: historical and genre painting, portrait and landscape, still life, and a synthetic form of art — the diorama.
