Exhibition «Word Catchers»
About exhibition
The State Literary Museum “20th Century”, with the support of the St. Petersburg Committee for Culture, has opened the exhibition “Word Catchers” at the Ice Palace. The exhibition, previously presented at the Great Gostiny Dvor and a finalist for the “Museum Olympus” award, will be shown in an updated and expanded form and will become one of the museum's permanent exhibitions at a new venue in the Nevsky District. The exhibition's theme covers the period of the emergence of Russian/Soviet literature in the first third of the 20th century in St. Petersburg–Petrograd–Leningrad. Featured in the exhibition are Anna Akhmatova and Alexander Blok, Mikhail Zoshchenko and Yevgeny Schwartz, Alexander Grin and Samuil Marshak, Maxim Gorky and Vladimir Mayakovsky. A completely new section of the exhibition at the Ice Palace will be devoted to the Russian literary avant-garde — representatives of the group of writers and cultural figures OBERIU, which existed in Leningrad in the late 1920s–early 1930s.
