Exhibition of the K. V. Ivanov Literary Museum
About exhibition
The exhibition introduces visitors to the stages of development of Chuvash literature from its origins to the present day. Stone pillars — funerary monuments bearing traces of a forgotten runic script — and antique embroidery reveal the rich spiritual world of the Chuvash people during the oral‑poetic period of literary development. The department of pre‑revolutionary Chuvash literature tells of the origins of Chuvash folk creativity, the first Chuvash writers, and the development of Chuvash literature up to 1917. Special attention is given to the work of K. V. Ivanov — a classic of Chuvash poetry, a pupil and teacher of the Simbirsk Chuvash school, a translator, an artist, and the author of the immortal poem "Narspi." In the interior of Ivanov's study memorial items of the poet are displayed, including a homemade typewriter, writing implements, manuscripts, and drawings. The "Origins and Development of Chuvash Literature" department presents the works of 20th‑century writers.
