Emerald House Exhibition
About exhibition
A distinctive feature of the Museum of Histories' exhibition space is that the halls are actually the apartment of S. V. Khomich — the first owner and builder of the Emerald House and a well-known architect in Tomsk. They are divided into three exhibition zones: the 'Path of a Tomsk Resident' exhibition tells the stories and the imprint left on the country's history by prominent inhabitants of Tomsk over the city's entire 420-year history; the 'Tomsk Motifs' exhibition showcases the variety of patterns in Tomsk wooden lacework, carving techniques, and mythological symbols widely used in building decoration; the octagonal hall at the center of the apartment is a composite image of the lifestyle of the homeowner's family and their social circle as it was on the eve of World War I and the revolutions.
