Exhibition "From the History of Tilsit"
About exhibition
The exhibition reflects vivid moments of the city's centuries-old history: its founding by the knights of the Teutonic Order, the granting of town rights in 1552 by the first Duke of Prussia, Albrecht of Brandenburg, and events of the First World War. Part of the exhibition is devoted to notable citizens of Tilsit: the Romantic poet Max von Schenkendorf, the Lithuanian philosopher and public figure Vilhelmas Vidūnas, and the playwright and writer Hermann Sudermann, author of "Journey to Tilsit". The collection includes photographs, documents, books, household items, fragments of weapons, medals, and scale models.
