The museum's permanent exhibition consists of two sections: "Military History of the Suoyarvi District" and "Ethnography". The military-historical display is devoted to the events of the Soviet-Finnish (Winter) War of 1939–1940 and the Great Patriotic War of 1941–1945 that took place on the territory of the Suoyarvi district. The exhibition widely features weapons, uniforms, soldiers' everyday items, as well as personal belongings of the fighters who fought for the liberation of the district. A central place is occupied by a collection of documents and personal effects of Hero of the Soviet Union Lieutenant General F. D. Gorelenko. The ethnography hall recreates the interior of a peasant hut from the late 19th – early 20th century. Here you can see peasant household items, domestic utensils, a collection of irons, textiles, and numerous tools for women's handicrafts. The men's half of the ethnography hall is represented by an improvised barn wall. It houses various items and implements of peasant labor and crafts: agriculture, fishing, hunting, logging, birch-bark weaving, iron extraction and blacksmithing.
