The exhibition tells the story of Cherepovets and the Cherepovets region. Each separate hall of the museum introduces visitors to a particular era: Finno-Ugric tribes, the Resurrection (Voskresensky) Cathedral as the first and main spiritual center, the decree of Empress Catherine II and the Vereshchagins' genius, city mayor I. A. Milyutin and his "projects", the Mariinskaya water system, Narodnaya Volya member Rysakov and the October Revolution, the hospital-city and the first blast furnace — each of these landmark events, personalities and phenomena forms a single chronicle richly illustrated with authentic artifacts. Among others, the exhibition features rare and sometimes unique exhibits: the arms of a Horde warrior, officers' uniforms and weapons from the 17th-20th centuries, ladies' dresses and peasant sarafans, a wooden bicycle from the late 19th century, a commissar's leather jacket from 1918, an aerial bomb from World War II, and more.
