About exhibition

The exhibit acquaints visitors with the history of the appearance and development of the parachute and parachute-landing equipment from Leonardo da Vinci to the present day; with the history of Russia's special forces and with the development and formation of the Airborne Forces, beginning with the first airborne drop carried out on August 2, 1930, and continuing to the present. Visitors can see parachutes, equipment and weapons of paratroopers and special forces, and in the Airborne Forces history hall learn about the VDV's participation in the Great Patriotic War, their revival and strengthening in the post-war period, their involvement in local armed conflicts, as well as the activities of the legendary VDV commander, Hero of the Soviet Union, Army General V. F. Margelov.
