Exhibition 'The History of Taman up to the 20th Century'

The combined visit includes two exhibitions: 'Colonization of the Northern Black Sea by the Ancient Greeks: 6th century BC – 4th century AD' (first hall) and 'The History of the Settlement of Taman by the Black Sea Cossacks – 1792' (second hall). The first hall presents collections from the Temryuk Museum's holdings. Of great interest is a hoard from the 2nd–1st millennium BC found in the Temryuk district. The exhibition includes household items of Bosporan inhabitants: amphorae, pithoi, tableware, terracotta figurines. Particularly noteworthy is the unique black-glazed pottery of the 4th century BC. The second hall displays museum collections and items from the Temryuk Museum's funds: weapons, household items, clothing, photographs, books, a buffet. The weapons collection is noteworthy: halberds, a saber, a shashka, rifles, pistols, and a cannon. Such weapons were used by the Cossacks from the beginning of their resettlement on the Taman Peninsula.
