Exhibition "History and Culture of the Region: 8th Millennium BCE – Early 20th Century CE"
About exhibition
The first section of the exhibition on the region's history and culture, "Ancient and Medieval History of the Region: 8th millennium BCE – 15th century," was created based on archaeological materials and covers the main stages of settlement and development of the area by ancient peoples. The hall displays authentic archaeological items discovered in the Kama–Vyatka interfluve. The exhibition presents human dwellings from different archaeological periods, housing models, and reconstructions of anthropological types and clothing. The section on the region's culture and history, "Udmurts: 16th – early 20th century," is dedicated to recreating the Udmurt worldview through objects of the material and spiritual culture of the Udmurt people and their traditional occupations and crafts: agriculture, hunting, fishing, beekeeping, and household trades. The exhibition design allows visitors to experience the space of an industrial town as imagined by Izhevsk's first architect, S. E. Dudin.
