Exhibition "Icons, Painting, Sculpture of the 18th – Early 21st Centuries"
About exhibition
The museum's permanent exhibition presents the finest pictorial works from its collection. It includes icons from the 18th to the early 20th century, which illustrate trends in the development of Russian sacred art of that period, including the Ural–Siberian region. These works were created in urban workshops, monasteries, or Old Believer households. The painting section introduces works by well-known painters such as P. Konchalovsky, A. Deineka, P. Ossovsky, A. Nikich, S. Tkachev, E. Bragovsky, A. Tutunov, K. Britov, and E. Belyutin. Ural art is represented by leading regional masters — B. Domashnikov, A. Brusilovsky, V. Maltsev, and A. Kalashnikov. A substantial portion of the exhibition comprises works by Kurgan authors: V. Ilyushin, G. Travnikov, V. Pichugin, A. Petukhov, B. Kolbin, I. Lokhmatov, V. Korshunov, B. Evlentyev, A. Morozov, and others. The sculpture by I. Shadr, a native of Shadrinsk in Kurgan Region and an artist of international renown, attracts great interest. Artists from the capital are represented by portraits and compositions by Yu. Chernov, L. Golovnitsky, B. Plenkin, S. Aseryants, B. Svinin, V. Astapov, and others. Among the considerable number of animal sculptures, works by the Kurgan sculptor A. Patrakov stand out.
