Exhibition «City Manor of Novo-Nikolaevsk»

About exhibition

The museum is located in a typical residential house of Novo-Nikolaevsk from the early 20th century. This house on Lenin Street, formerly Mikhailovskaya, was built in 1905 and belonged to the townsman Yevsey Mikhailovich Metlin. He came to Novo-Nikolaevsk from Krasnoyarsk and worked here in private transport. In Soviet times, when the city's historic buildings were being actively destroyed, Metlin's house was preserved in memory of the visit here by the prominent Bolshevik Sergey Kirov. According to legend, Kirov visited this house to see the revolutionary Alexander Petukhov, who rented a room from the Metlin family. The house has retained the original interior layout of the residential floor, and the basement has been restored to its original appearance. The interiors are mainly composed of authentic items and household objects of early 20th-century townspeople. Visitors can see photographs of the house's residents, furniture, household items, and clothing from the early 20th century. Here you will learn how an ordinary urban middle-class family lived, as well as several small stories from the city's early years.
