Exhibition of the Kizhi Museum Repository
About exhibition
The building of the repository of the Kizhi museum-reserve is itself a historic monument with an unusual past. The very first preliminary sketch of the building's layout was made in 1909, taking into account the requirements for later housing the workshops of the Petrozavodsk Craft Vocational School. The foundations were laid in 1910, and the final inspection took place in February 1914. Thus, more than 100 years ago the construction of a unique city facility — the craft workshops of the technical school — was fully completed in Petrozavodsk. Today the repository holds more than 60,000 items, which are carefully and neatly arranged in display cases by researchers and caretakers according to their belonging to particular collections: wood, metal, painting, etc.
