Exhibition 'Ethnographic Mosaic'
About exhibition
What is a Kalmyk prayer drum? What did the interior of a Russian izba look like? What was a Tatar house like? You can learn about all this by visiting the ethnographic exhibitions of the museum-reserve 'Old Sarepta'. The exhibition 'Izba of the Russian Peasant of the Lower Volga' shows the interior furnishings and the features of everyday life of the region's inhabitants at the turn of the 19th–20th centuries. The exhibition 'Dwelling of the Tatar Peasant' presents the distinctive character of the Tatar culture of the Lower Volga from the late 19th to the early 20th century. The 'Kalmyk Kibitka' exhibition features unique items — authentic objects of 19th-century Buddhist culture, national costumes, and rare household objects of the Kalmyk people.
