Exhibition of the Yelabuga Museum of Memory

About exhibition

The exhibition tells the story of events that took place in Yelabuga during the Great Patriotic War. Using the example of one small town, the museum staff illustrate the life of thousands of Soviet rear towns. The museum brings together two main themes — the front and the home front. Visitors will learn about Yelabuga residents who went to the front and will see unique wartime exhibits from the museum-reserve’s collections and from the personal archives of Yelabuga residents: newspapers and letters, documents and photographs, awards, weapons and uniforms, and samples of products from local and evacuated enterprises. On the walls of the exhibition hall visitors can see lists of all those mobilized by the military commissariat in 1941–1945.
