Exhibition of the Traveler's House of V. K. Arsenyev
About exhibition
The Traveler's House of V. K. Arsenyev is the only surviving house in Russia where the outstanding writer, scientist, explorer-researcher, and a man with a sense of civic responsibility and duty lived and worked. Thanks to his work in various scientific fields (geology, geography, toponymy, cartography, biology, archaeology, ethnography, history), the distant and unknown Ussuri region was revealed to the world. Filling in the blank spots on geographic, ethnographic and other maps, Vladimir Klavdievich not only helped develop these territories, but also created a complete picture of life in the region in his scientific and literary works 'Dersu Uzala', 'In the Mountains of the Sikhote-Alin' and others. The layout of the rooms in the apartment has been preserved as V. K. Arsenyev knew them. In the study and the living room the furniture and household items are arranged as they were during the traveler's lifetime, and the bedroom and children's room have been replaced by an expedition hall. The exhibition features many unique items, as well as information about the Arsenyev family, V. K. Arsenyev's work and his research.
