Exhibition of the V. V. Veresaev House-Museum
About exhibition
The museum's exhibition introduces the life and work of the writer, Pushkin scholar and literary critic Vikenty Vikentyevich Veresaev. The museum is located in the estate that belonged to his parents – Vikenty Ignatievich and Elizaveta Pavlovna Smidovich. It is the only surviving urban estate in Tula. Vikenty Veresaev was born in Tula into a physician's family. His father, Vikenty Ignatievich, was the founder of the Tula City Hospital and of the sanitary commission. Together with colleagues he established the Society of Tula Physicians. The writer's mother, Elizaveta Pavlovna, organized the first kindergarten in Tula in her home. The museum's main exhibits are the writer's personal belongings: photographs, documents, portraits and books with autographs. The museum recreates the interiors of the Smidovich family's living rooms, Veresaev's Moscow study and his library. The museum also runs a literary salon where meetings with writers and literary and musical evenings are held. Phone for inquiries: +7 (4872) 56-77-31.
