Exhibition of the N. N. Zhukov House-Museum
About exhibition
The unique N. N. Zhukov House-Museum is a single-storey log house where the artist spent his childhood and youth. Here, as he once put it, the "core of his life" took place. The museum exhibition presents visitors with the creative biography of Nikolai Zhukov. The memorial room immerses you in the atmosphere of the Zhukov family at the beginning of the 20th century — the time when the little eight-year-old Kolya Zhukov arrived in the district town of Yelets with his parents. All the exhibits speak of the atmosphere prevailing in a family of cultured and educated people. Before you are photographs, documents, books and personal items that have absorbed the barely perceptible energy of their owners. It was this atmosphere that contributed to the formation and development of the artist's talent. The museum halls chronicle Nikolai Nikolaevich's creative development step by step, and this narrative can be compared to a journey through a book of life, filled with illustrations of events and impressions. Half a century of the country's life is presented here: its events, people and milestones found vivid documentary reflection in the artist's work. In his drawings — the country's history, the artist's contemporaries, figures of culture and art, portraits of relatives and children. The exhibition is notable for not being permanent: it presents different themes in their fullest extent and allows the viewer to properly appreciate the artist's vast creative legacy.
