On the northwestern outskirts of Mozhaysk, on the bank of the Moskva River, near the monumental ensemble of the Luzhetsky Monastery, stands the house of the outstanding Russian artist Sergey Vasilievich Gerasimov. The one-story log building — a studio — with a large window that opened onto a typically Russian panoramic landscape with the river was built in 1915 by Gerasimov himself on the site of his father's estate. This house is unique in Mozhaysk, possessing both memorial-historical and architectural-artistic value. The museum's exhibition is presented in three rooms: a dining-hall room, S. V. Gerasimov's studio, and L. S. Gerasimov's studio (the artist's son). Original canvases and studies by the celebrated painter adorn the walls of the memorial house. The main theme of the works is landscapes of Mozhaysk and its surroundings. The exhibition also features magnificent portraits of the artist's family and close friends. Of particular interest are the interior and the original pieces of furniture made in the Art Nouveau style characteristic of the early 20th century. A memorial plaque on the southern side of the building, created by sculptor Yu. Chernov, reminds visitors that the artist lived and worked in this house from 1915 to 1964.
