The House of History of the Surgut Cossacks presents the exhibition "Veleno gorod staviti..". The exhibition is dedicated to the founding of Surgut in the 16th century and to the servicemen who were the city’s founders. The central hall features a model of the Surgut ostrog, a model of a Verkhoturye koch, a model of the monument to the city’s founders, as well as materials reflecting the history of Siberia’s incorporation into the Russian state. The exhibition room "Everyday Life of a 19th-Century Surgut Cossack Family" illustrates the characteristics of a Cossack’s domestic interior. The exhibition also includes, in multimedia format, the full text of the 1594 decree on the construction of Surgut, a map of the Mangazeya route, and materials on Cossack life from the late 20th century.
