Exhibition of wild and domestic animals
About exhibition
\n\nVisiting the wild animal exhibition leaves an indelible impression on visitors and teaches people kindness and a careful attitude toward the world of wildlife. The exhibition features 140 animal species and 479 individuals. The uniqueness of the collection is that the zoo houses rare species: 100 species listed in the IUCN Red List; 15 species listed in the Red Data Book of Russia; 14 species listed in the Red Book of the Chelyabinsk Region. Over the years, the staff have accumulated extensive experience in keeping and breeding various animal species, many of which rarely reproduce in captivity. It is worth noting separately that the Chelyabinsk Zoo joined the international program for the conservation of the endangered subspecies — the Amur tiger — from its earliest years; over the entire period, 15 tiger cubs were born. Almost all were transferred to other zoos for housing and further breeding.\n\n
