Exhibition 'The Belarusian Poet from the Banks of the Volga. Maksim Bahdanovich'
About exhibition
Exhibition 'The Belarusian Poet from the Banks of the Volga. Maksim Bahdanovich' is the only one in Russia devoted to the life and work of the classic of Belarusian literature Maksim Bahdanovich. It occupies two rooms: the first recounts the poet's fate, the second — his Yaroslavl circle. A distinctive feature of the exhibition is that the very walls of the house 'remember' that past life in which the poet's talent manifested itself, and genuine items that belonged to the Bahdanovich family create the comfort and atmosphere of a bygone era. In the first room you can see what the book 'Venok' looks like. Nearby is a heliogravure depicting a fragment of the famous Renaissance masterpiece 'The Sistine Madonna' by Raphael Santi — a gift from Maxim Gorky and a family heirloom that unfailingly accompanied the family; there is also a trunk for the poet's personal belongings. Next to these items is the recreated workspace of Maksim the bibliophile. The second room is filled with family photographs; it also contains a portrait of the poet's muse Anna Kokueva and the Yaroslavl newspaper 'Golos', in whose pages Maksim Bahdanovich published works in various genres — notes, reviews, poems and prose pieces under numerous pseudonyms.
