Exhibition «Arsenal of the Rostov Kremlin»
About exhibition
The new exhibition almost completely presents the museum’s collection of cold and firearms, equipment and uniforms. It includes about four hundred items from the 15th–20th centuries, produced in workshops and factories in Russia and abroad. Visitors will see examples of melee weapons (bardiches, halberds, sabers, rapiers, shashkas, daggers, cleavers) and firearms (cannons, muskets, pistols, revolvers, rifles, machine guns), as well as items of uniform dress. The exhibition is complemented by pictorial sources: engravings, drawings, posters and plans. A separate section is devoted to the unique fortification — the Rostov earthen fortress built by Dutch engineer Jan Cornelius van Rodenburg in 1632–1634. Multimedia elements help visitors immerse themselves in the exhibition’s theme. The exhibition also serves as a venue for meetings with experts on the history of warfare and armaments.
