Exhibition 'The Arkhangelsk North in the First Third of the 18th Century'

About exhibition

In the Arkhangelsk Gostiny Dvory there is an exhibition unique in the region. This comprehensive display is dedicated to the Petrine era and the defense of the Russian state's northern frontiers. The exhibition is built around a scale model of the Novodvinskaya Fortress, which incorporates interactive audiovisual elements. Visitors can also see models of other historical sites of the Pomor region, models of sailing-era ships, a collection of antique cannons and their ammunition, and rare centuries-old books. Pages of the old books sit alongside displays of a modern museum information system that present detailed historical information in an engaging and informative way. All this wealth is "guarded" by mannequins dressed in the uniforms of 18th-century servicemen.
