Tour of the "Ethnography" Hall
About exhibition
Visitors are presented with household items and tools of Oryol peasants, traditional costumes and examples of embroidery and weaving from the late 19th to the early 20th century, and works by masters of wood carving and pottery. The items are arranged in complexes: a dwelling is shown (the icon corner, women's corner, entryway/vestibule, the area by the stove), weaving, and agricultural tools (those not personally familiar with village life will easily recognize what a seed drill, ard, harrow, flail, sickle, grain measure, scythe, etc. are and how they are used). The themes of the fair and peasant costume are also visualized. There are no copies here, only originals; the objects are combined into a beautiful ensemble.
