"The Road Gave Us Joy." Exhibition about the ensemble "Silver Link"

The era of intensive BAM construction was not only a time of rising labor enthusiasm among the Soviet people. The great project also fostered the flowering of the cultural potential of young builders. Komsomol envoys proved themselves to be creative and energetic people. The ensemble "Silver Link" took part in and won not only cross-route festivals of patriotic guitar song, but also performed in Moscow at the Kremlin Palace of Congresses as a laureate of the All-Union Festival of Amateur Artistic Creativity of Workers. The amateur collective even visited India, where they toured together with the well-known Soviet composer and singer Yevgeny Martynov. The "Silver Link" ensemble of the "Udarnik" club of SMP No. 573 of the Tyndatransstroy trust, detachment "Moscow Komsomolets," achieved the highest mastery in performing BAM guitar song. The lads' performances each time turned into an inspired report, since the builder-artists sang about what excited and moved them personally: about the first clearings; about the first kilometers of the Great BAM; they sang about themselves and their friends, with whom they were laying a steel mainline through the dense taiga. The exhibition presents rare photographs and unique documents from the collections of the BAM History Museum. Yuri Korolyov, a soloist of the ensemble, provided invaluable assistance in preparing the project. The slides are accompanied by a voice-over and spirited Komsomol songs. But a special place in the virtual exhibition is occupied by a moving musical composition dedicated to the memory of Soviet soldiers who fell on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. Also included in the exhibition is a fragment of a video recording featuring Vladimir Lysenko, a well-known railway worker in Tynda, a BAM builder, and an author and performer of guitar song. Vladimir Nikitovich shared his impressions of "Silver Link"'s work and spoke about his friendship with the guys from the famous ensemble.
