The exhibition «Borodino Field – Memorial of Two Patriotic Wars» from the collection of the State Borodino Military-Historical Museum-Reserve at the National Museum of the Republic of Buryatia is dedicated to the Battle of Borodino on 26 August 1812, its place in the history of the Patriotic War, and to the fighting on Borodino Field during the Battle of Moscow in October 1941. This theme is revealed through works of battle painting and graphics, portraits of participants in these events, photographs, items of uniform and equipment belonging to both Russian and Soviet soldiers and to representatives of the opposing armies, posters of the Great Patriotic War that draw parallels between the events of the two Patriotic Wars, and genuine archaeological finds made on Borodino Field. These are complemented by images of monuments erected on Borodino Field in memory of the events of the two Patriotic Wars. The exhibition pays particular attention to the participation in the Battle of Borodino and in the fighting for Moscow on the Mozhaysk axis in 1941 of natives of the territory of the modern Republic of Buryatia. Items from the collections of the National Museum of the Republic of Buryatia that supplement the exhibition tell the history of the Selenginsk Infantry Regiment, formed in 1796 from natives of Transbaikal and which took part in the Battle of Borodino. A special place in the exhibition is occupied by the campaign icon of the Selenginsk Regiment — a relic whose history is also linked to the events of the Crimean War and the defense of Sevastopol. In turn, the account of the events of the Great Patriotic War will include information about natives of the Buryat-Mongol ASSR — soldiers of the 32nd Rifle Division, who defended Borodino Field in October 1941.
